Under general anesthesia, 1 or 2 small incisions are made on both sides of the lower back (roughly 1/3 inch each). Through these small incisions, the affected disc is removed and replaced with the Globus Rise™ IntraLIF™ implant and bone.
In order to stabilize the new implant, 1 or 2 incisions are made next to the initial incision(s) (roughly 1-1/2 inches each). Through these incisions, small metal rods are secured to the adjacent vertebrae. At the completion of the operation the patient will be brought to recovery and will usually leave the facility within 24 hours.
